The Quest For Book Blurbs
I’ve dreamed of being in this position for years but now it’s finally here. It’s time to ask established authors to blurb my book. This is the process by which you grovel and ask authors you admire to consider bestowing some of their fabulousness on your own little newbie book and giving a quote for the book jacket.
It is beyond intimidating to reach out to authors whose work have inspired you and ask for this huge favor. It’s like asking for a helping hand up the literary ladder. As a new author, I am a completely unknown entity. What’s in it for them?
There are so many books that helped set the wheels in motion for this one and I owe a debt of gratitude to those women. Reading their work inspired me to create my own stories and the book that became Synchronized Breathing. That list includes Helen Fielding, Candace Bushnell, Plum Sykes, Melissa Bank, Sue Limb, Jackie Collins and many, many others. (Not that any of those ladies are attainable but it’s fun fantasizing.) I will have to get over feeling shy and put some requests out there into the book world and see what happens. If you have any tips, please let me know!
